The Department of Mechanical Engineering is pleased to invite you to a seminar by Dr. Sayid Daşatan on “Composite Materials: From Damage Mechanism in Aerospace to Sustainable Manufacturing and Recycling.”

Speaker: Dr. Sayid Daşatan

Date & Time: 9 September 2025, Tuesday, 14:30

Venue: E200, Middle East Technical University, Department of Mechanical Engineering

In this seminar, Dr. Daşatan will present an overview of his research journey, spanning from high-fidelity modelling of damage mechanisms in aerospace-grade composites to innovative approaches for sustainability and recycling. His work covers engineering challenges across the lifecycle of composite materials, including contributions to major projects such as FLOWER, EMPHASIZING, and TAPACO. The talk will highlight advancements in natural fibre composites, recycled glass fibre reinforcement, and advanced aerospace manufacturing techniques.

Dr. Daşatan completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at METU in 2021 and currently serves as a Research Fellow at the Brunel Composites Centre. His research interests include advanced and sustainable composites, damage analysis, life cycle assessment, and the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into composite materials research.

All faculty, students, and researchers are welcome to attend.
