We are hosting Dr. Salih Alan for a seminar addressing one of the key challenges in structural dynamics: combining physical fidelity with computational efficiency.

“From Prediction to Reconfiguration: Computational Strategies for Structural Dynamics and Wave Control”

Date: Friday, 18 September 2026
Time: 14:00
Place: E200

In this seminar, Dr. Alan will discuss computational strategies for the efficient prediction, design, and control of advanced engineering structures. The talk will span structural dynamics, smart and composite structures, spectral element formulations, and programmable wave manipulation using piezoelectric metamaterials, highlighting a research trajectory from efficient response prediction to actively reconfigurable wave behavior.

Dr. Salih Alan is currently a Structural Analysis Engineer at Turkish Aerospace and holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from METU. His research and professional experience cover structural dynamics, vibration analysis, computational mechanics, smart structures, and wave propagation.

We welcome all interested students, researchers, and colleagues to attend.
