Covid-19 announcement

Dear Students and Members,

The most recent precautionary measures regarding the Coronavirus implemented at our university are as follows:

As a result of the notifications regarding the coming online distance education process at our university, some of our students have started making requests about coming back to their dormitories. As a result of all the precautions we have taken in order to keep the campus population, and thus physical interaction, at a minimum level, no students (including those who left their dormitories with permission) will be accepted to dormitories with regards to the regulations that were started on March 18, 2020 and will continue until an unprecedented time. Our students who use the dormitories have been notified about the situation, and will further be notified about the developments in the coming days.

Since the number of people using the cafeterias is constantly decreasing, the following new regulations will be implemented in food services starting on March 23, 2020:

Our continuing services:

  • The fixed menu service for lunch in the cafeteria.
  • The alacarte menu service at the Social Building.
  • Food services at the Terminal Cafeteria.

Suspended Services:

  • The fixed menu service for dinner in the cafeteria.
  • Cafeteria Cafe services.
  • CCC Academiz Club services.

The METU Library, which has been kept open until now to fulfill the informational needs of our users, will be closed down as part of the precautionary measures taken against Coronavirus. The return deadlines for all loaned books have been extended according to user types. Thus, the entrance of users who would like to return books has been prevented and this situation has reflected on our entrance-leave statistics.

For those users who have ongoing research and are in need of urgent printed resources, loans will be carried out without having our users entering the library building and by providing a safe distance.

All electronic resources and our annnouncements regarding collections put into use free of charge by publishers will continue to be posted on our website.

Our instructors can follow the notifications about online education within our university at , which is continuously being updated.

We would like to remind you all that all regulations at our University regarding the Coronovirus are being renewed according to immediate circumstances and possibilities, with the purpose of minimizing physical interaction. Every regulation that is decided on by considering the activities of our shared areas of use in this particular situation is made by taking into consideration the number of staff who are still working at this period.

Please be reminded that all our students and members should make their personal plans in such a way that they will be supporting our regulations made according to immediate circumstances and possibilities. We would like to thank you all for your support.

Best wishes,
