Our faculty members Asst. Prof. Dr. Orkun Özşahin and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sezer Özerinç were awarded TUBITAK 1001 Research Grants as part of 2018 March application cycle. We congratulate our faculty and wish them success in their future studies.

Analysis and Modeling of Process Dynamics in Micromachining to Increase Productivity

In the project to be supported under TUBITAK 1001 Research Grant, studies will be done to prevent vibration problems in micro machining under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Orkun Özşahin. Within the scope of the project, analysis and modeling of process dynamics in micromachining will be performed. Significant productivity gains are aimed in micro machining by using the models to be developed.

Development of High Fracture Toughness Hard Coatings

In the project to be supported under TUBITAK 1001 Research Grant, Nanomechanics Laboratory will develop new generation of wear resistant coatings , under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Sezer Özerinç. Wear resistant coatings are widely used to extend the lifetime of many machine components in application of automotive, aerospace, defense and manufacturing industries. In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Kürşat Kazmanlı from ITU Materials Engineering, the project will aim at developing coatings with durability through the use of nanostructured alloys.
